Kirby Muxloe is probably one of the most sought after locations within a 10-mile radius of Leicester. It is, in fact, only 6.2 miles from the centre of the village to the centre of Leicester city centre yet Kirby Muxloe is on the edge of open countryside and enjoys a wide variety of walks. The village has a row of shops in a linear arrangement including a delicatessen, post office, optician’s, fruit and vegetable shop of high repute, a building society, hairdressers and more.

Kirby Muxloe is perhaps best known for the 15th century castle ruins, situated just off Oakcroft Avenue, which are open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from May to August. This picturesque fortified mansion was built for Lord Hastings, who was dramatically seized and executed by Richard III in 1483.

The Kirby Muxloe Sports & Village Club is on Ratby Lane, on the edge of the village, and provides an excellent setting and facilities for football, cricket, archery and other activities. Kirby Muxloe Golf Club has been established since 1893 and is one of Leicestershire’s premier parkland golf courses. Set in beautiful surroundings in the south west corner of Leicestershire, it is a challenging 18-hole par 71 course
