Anstey is known as the “Gateway To Charnwood Forest”. Many hardy souls make the brisk walk to the main entrance to Bradgate Park in Newtown Linford. There are in fact many walks across open countryside from the village towards Thurcaston, Cropston and Groby. The Rothley Brook flows through the village on its way to the River Soar. There are two ancient bridges, the Pack Horse Bridge and King William’s Bridge so named because King William III planned to visit the Grey family at Bradgate in 1696 and the existing crossing was too narrow for the Royal coachess so a new bridge was built.

Many of the 19th century industrial factories have now been turned into apartments to give the village a new lease of life. Anstey is 4.7 miles from the city centre and is within very easy reach of the A46 and M1 motorway.

There are two primary schools, Latimer Primary & Woolden Hill Primary and Martin High School. The centre of the village is known as The Nook and this is where a large variety of shops and amenities can be found. The village’s population is more than 6,000.
